Mrs. Reima
Robertson
Well, I know you
wonder what an old girl like me is doing here, and
what I have to say. But first of all, it's a great
honour to be here for the marriage of our good
friends Eric, and now, Midori. I'll say
this:
We first got to
know Eric when he came to our library to install
our computer system, and he is a great computer
system, organizer, etc. etc. We have a wonderful
system: we think we have the best in the city!
Hear, hear! And he just fitted in so well with all
the ladies in the library and we were very
happy.
All of a sudden
we noticed that, um, Eric sort of fell off a little
bit: we didn't see him quite as often. I asked him
if he would go to our library conference, and he
said yes, he was going: he was going to demonstrate
his system anyway. But you know what? He brought a
little lady with him to the library conference, and
I was second in command because his little
lady did everything for him. She brought his tea,
she brought his lunch, she brought him a sandwich.
And... ahem, THIS lady began to realize that
something was afoot (and of course, something was.)
But it was a long time before we found out just
what was going on.
And we are so
happy today to be here. You know we didn't want to
come, to be honest, because we'd just come back
from two weeks in Europe. My father thinks I have
holes in my head, and a screw loose, to go on
another trip right after that! But Eric was
special, and with Midori it just made it that much
more special.
Now my purpose in
being here is not really to give a speech but to
bring a greeting from our ladies in the library.
They all love this couple and are very grateful for
all that Eric has done for us. You have no idea:
and he doesn't even get paid or anything! He does
it all free, gratis, and for nothing! And we are
very, very grateful to him.
And now, on
behalf of all our ladies in the library, we wish
you all every happiness and joy that only marriage
can bring. I've been married for 32 years and we're
still happy! (But we don't have any little ones
screaming around...) So anyway, all the very best.
We'll be praying for God's richest blessings upon
you: we love you!
