Reception Venue

We wanted to do something a little bit different than the usual for our wedding reception. Given that we had decided to have the wedding in Japan, it seemed right to do things a little bit on the Japanese side... and what better way to entertain our guests but to give them a really nice stay in a Japanese mountain Hot Spring?

Our wedding reception was held at Myojinkan, a hot spring villa tucked in the folds of the mountains east of Matsumoto. The outdoor hot spring had natural spring water percolating out of the ground... Since all who came to our wedding were welcome to stay the night, we were able to relax and enjoy the evening together at our leisure.

A bus took many of our guests from the Azumino Family Chapel to the Myojinkan Inn at the Tobira hot spring, located 30 minutes due east of Matsumoto. The route follows a winding mountain road up towards the Utsukushigahara plateau: a road with which I am intimately familiar, having passed by there on my bicycle many, many times before.

For those of you who are thinking "Let's do that again!", here's a link to Myojinkan's Japanese internet site: http://www.yadoya.com/myojinkan/
