This is the wheel for a hatch door of some kind. A U.S. supply ship was torpedoed near here during the Pacific War, and it was towed close to this island and scuttled. The ship lay on the shore until the 1960's when a volcano erupted and pushed the ship back into the water and on its side. By consequence it has become its own coral reef and many beautiful plants and fish have made it home. This ship is only a little distance from the shore making it an unusually convenient diving spot.
